We were very sorry to hear of the recent passing of former Harris Tweed Authority board member Murdo Morrison.

Murdo, who was born in Bragar, served on our board between 1999 and 2015, and was an incredible ambassador for Harris Tweed in the ensuing years as well.

This was evidenced no better than in September of 2023, when an event was held in the Grinneabhat centre to celebrate the launch of his newly published book, ‘Sealladh agus Sgeulachdan’, which included tales about the past, the present and the way of life that people had on the west side of the Isle of Lewis.

Murdo proudly included stories with elements of the weaving of Harris Tweed®, along with some lovely photos of weavers in the community too.

His home village of Bragar, as well as Arnol and the surrounding areas, were crucial to the industry he was so fond of.
